Chennai: Four-member gang attempts to break ATM

Police said two personnel from Villivakkam police station noticed the ATM was broken and cameras were damaged when they went to sign the log book.

Chennai: A four-member gang allegedly attempted to break open an ATM at Villivakkam with iron rods and fled after they realized they could not open in the wee hours of Friday.

According to police on regular patrol, two personnel from Villivakkam police station had entered an ATM to sign the logbook. They noticed the ATM of a private bank was broken and the CCTV cameras were also damaged.

The Villivakkam police registered a case and collected the CCTV footages from the ATM. Four men wearing helmets were seen entering the ATM centre and damaging the cameras. Police confirmed that no cash was stolen from the ATM centre. Further investigations are on.
