Tipu Sultan Jayanti: CM Siddaramaiah warns miscreants

Tells police to deal sternly with those disrupting peace.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed senior police officers to take stringent action against those trying to breach peace in view of the Tipu Jayanti and those who try to spread communal hatred.He was speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with top police officials at his official residence, Krishna, to review law and order in the state, on Thursday.

“Some people in the BJP are trying to breach peace in the society and create law and order problem as Tipu Jayanti is nearing. Also, they are trying to create unrest in the society by propagating Hindutva ideology and want to disturb peace as the elections are just few months away. So, I have instructed the police to deal with those elements, who try to create unrest in the society, with an iron fist.”

On the appointment the first woman police chief, the Chief Miinister said that he was confident that the new DG & IGP Neelmani N. Raju will lead the police force efficiently and maintain law and order in the state. Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who was also present, said the police department had instructed the organisers of ‘Paravarthana Yatre’ not to create any law and order problem.

“We have given them 75 days’ time for the rally and instructed them that their rally should not cause any inconvenience to the general public. The organisers will be held responsible for any untoward incident during the rally,” Mr Reddy added. The advisor to Home Minister, Kempaiah, DG & IGP Neelmani N. Raju, Bengaluru city Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar and other top police officers, above the rank of IGPs, were present in the meeting.
