Missing I-T officer rescued in Krishnagiri district

KRISHNAGIRI/COIMBATORE: An Income Tax (I-T) department officer who went missing in Coimbatore, a fortnight ago was rescued on Wednesday night in Kanthikuppam police limits of Krishnagiri district.

The 38-year-old I-T officer S.Sivakumar was found lying on the road side near Bargur with injuries on his body by home guards who were patrolling the Chennai-Krishnagiri national highway.

Mr. Sivakumar was admitted to a private hospital here before his relatives shifted him to another hospital in Chennai.

The I-T officer reportedly went missing after a quarrel with his wife Sridevi from his apartment home in Peelamedu police limits of Coimbatore, it may be recalled.
Mr. Sivakumar, working as Deputy Commissioner in Coimbatore, and son of a retired IPS officer, had gone missing on October 13, after a quarrel with his wife, sources said. He left home with just a suitcase and few thousand rupees in cash, leaving behind his mobile phone and ATM card at home.

While his family members had lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police, Sivakumar apparently had first gone to Mangaluru.

The Coimbatore police tried to locate him there, but after visiting some temples in Mangaluru the I-T official had left the place, sources said. Sivakumar was later found unconscious near Bargur in Krishnagiri district.
