Hyderabad Schools Parents' Association says campaigning paid off

Some schools are asking up to Rs 60,000 as admission fee and parents said that the admission fee also increased just as the tuition fees.

Hyderabad: The admission process for the upcoming academic year has began in private schools in Telangana State. Some schools are asking up to Rs 60,000 as admission fee and parents said that the admission fee also increased just as the tuition fees. Hridhesh Gupta, a parent, said, “There is already an increase of 10 to 15 per cent in tuition fees. Even the admission fee is also hiked. The parents have to pay application, prospectus and admission fees.”

The Hyderabad Schools Parents’ Association claimed that the continued campaign against the school fee hike has controlled the hike in fees. “Normally, we receive complaints from parents who say that their child cannot be admitted to a particular school due to hefty donation. This year, it has stopped and we believe our campaign has led to the change,” said a member of HSPA.
