Hyderabad: Painter Laxman Aelay receives PhD from EFLU

Mr Aelay is well-known for his versatile creations ranging from literary, film, and book illustrations.

Hyderabad: Noted painter from Hyderabad, Laxman Aelay, received his PhD from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) on Thursday, for his thesis The Markandeya Puranam and the Nakashi scroll panting: A study of the oral, performative and visual traditions in South India.

Mr Aelay is well-known for his versatile creations ranging from literary, film, and book illustrations. However, he is most known for his paintings that uphold the Telangana tradition. He has worked with professor K. Satayanarayana in the school of interdisciplinary studies. He was awarded the PhD on Thursday from Prof E. Suresh Kumar, vice chancellor of EFLU.
