Hyderabad High Court seeks details of Sridhar Babu case

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday sought the details of the case registered against former Congress minister D. Sridhar Babu from the Chikkadpally police by Monday.

Justice Shameem Akhter was dealing with a petition by Mr Sridhar Babu seeking anticipatory bail. Senior counsel Vedula Venkat Ramana said the police had registered a case under the NDPS Act against his client based on a phone conversation. He said Mr Sridhar Babu had nothing to do with the case which was booked with a political motive.

Kancha Ilaiah moves HC to quash ST/ST case

Prof. Kancha Ilaiah on Thursday moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the SCs, STs Prevention of Atrocities Act booked on him by the Malkajgiri police. He said the police had filed the case on October under based on a complaint from a student, Mr K. Nagaraju.

He said two cases were pending against him in Karimnagar 1 Town police station and before the judicial first class magistrate court at Korutla.

He said that Mr Nagaraju in his complaint did not specify the offence alleged against him under the SC/ST POA Act.

He urged the court to quash the case against him as the allegations were absurd and vague, and declare the registration multiple FIRs as illegal.
