Telangana Congress accused of plot to stall irriagtion projects

The government will take action against such conspiracies and complete all pending irrigation projects as promised, says T. Harish Rao.

Hyderabad: The Congress is hatching a conspiracy to stall construction of irrigation projects in the state, alleged TS irrigation minister T. Harish Rao here on Wednesday.

Mr Harish Rao cited filing of cases in the High Court and alleged that signatures of some dead and unidentified farmers were forged while filing the case against Mallannasagar project.

“We exposed the fraud with proof. The government will take action against such conspiracies and complete all pending irrigation projects as promised in the state,” Mr Harish Rao said in Siddipet.

After initial objections, many farmers parted with their lands following the minister’s intervention. However, some remained defiant, while some, with the support of Opposition parties, filed petitions in the High Court against acquisition of their lands.

It is learnt one of the names in a petition was Masula Ramchander, a resident of Dilsukhnagar. It was later found he died in Gandhi Hospital on February 1, 2015.
Similarly, another petitioner was named Masula Satyanarayana of Kondapaka, in mandal Singaranku. It is reported that Satyanarayana passed away in LB Nagar on December 13, 2015, according to a TRS leader.

“People who were not from the area and names of dead people are in petitions,” the TRS leader said. Mr Harish Rao said previous Congress government failed to provide additional water to even an acre of land in the district.

“We will provide Singur waters to 40,000 acres in Andole Assembly constituency this Yaasangi (Rabi) season. We will provide Godavari waters to Siddipet before next December,” he asserted.

Referring to sale of spurious seeds in some places, he said the government has taken measures to supply seeds directly to farmers. “We will take stringent action against manufacturers and sellers of spurious seeds. Spurious seeds are playing havoc with the lives of farmers. We will not allow this to continue,” he said.
