Road-closure board put up in Karkhana a big mystery

Board with the police symbol was reported to the Hyderabad traffic police who advised the complainant to approach the law and order police.

Hyderabad: The gate installed by the Trimulgherry’s Vikrampuri Colony society at road number 3 is not new, but the “no thoroughfare” sign that adorns it is quite surprising.

While the sign includes the Telangana police symbol with the Karkhana police mentioned at the bottom, regional cops say that they have no knowledge of it.

Mr Suresh Kochattil, a commuter said, “I am sure the Hyderabad Police did not install this sign. This board, and even the barricades, was put up near Rainbow Hospital by the Vikrampuri Resident’s Welfare Association. Why would the Hyderabad police allow people to set up signboards, allowing them to take the law in their hands?”

The board with the police symbol was reported to the Hyderabad traffic police who advised the complainant to approach the law and order police.

Mr Y. Nageshwar Rao, Karkhana inspector of police said, “The station is no way concerned with the board. It has been done without our notice. The area will be inspected by my staff.”

Vikrampuri Colony resident E. David, said: “It is over eight months that these boards have been set up. It was done when the SCB laid a road and built speed breakers. The society office set up the boards. The gate remains closed at night because many travelling from Laxminagar to Karkhana take this road. I feel comfortable as a resident but would object to it as a commuter.”

Society members were unavailable for comment. However, Capt. J. Rama Rao, former president of Vikrampuri Colony, said, “The gate was closed years ago after permission was sought from SCB. Many service officers reside in this colony and are disturbed as the bypass is becoming congested as it is being used as a shortcut to reach Secunderabad Club.”
