Pinarayi Vijayan vows strict action on terror
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the Assembly on Wednesday that the police were making serious efforts to nab the culprits behind the explosion on the premises of Malappuram collectorate as well as to unearth the real motives. “A special police team led by Malappuram narcotic cell DySP P.T. Balan is probing the case. It needs to be found out whether the incident was an indication of something or an attempt to mislead. The details of the organisation named ‘Base Movement’ also will be probed. The inquiry into the similar explosion at Kollam collectorate in June was also progressing,” the chief minister said in response to an adjournment notice.
While the Opposition avoided a walkout over the issue, BJP leader O. Rajagopal staged a walkout alleging that the government was taking lightly the incidents that could affect communal harmony. The chief minister said that the government was not taking the Kollam incident lightly. A police team led by assistant commissioner of police George Koshy was investigating the case. Similar cases in other states were also yet to be cracked. The states need to jointly resist any attempts to trigger terrorism, he said.
