Kerala government to give 35 kg rice free to 26 lakh card holders

Cabinet on Wednesday decided to give 35 kg of rice free of cost to 25,58,631 card holders among the total of 53,95800 card holders.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cabinet on Wednesday decided to give 35 kg of rice free of cost to 25,58,631 card holders among the total of 53,95800 card holders under Anthyodhaya and Annayojana scheme based on a temporary priority list subjected to final list. The rest of the 28, 37,236 card holders comprising of 1,29,21,410 beneficiaries will be given 5 kg of cereals in the ratio of 80:20 for rice and wheat.

1,21,50,769 beneficiaries who were included in the APL category earlier will figure in the temporary non priority list subjected to final list. These beneficiaries will get two kilograms at the rate of '2 per kilo per beneficiary from the tide over quota. The rest of the non priority beneficiaries will be given one kilo of wheat and the available quality of rice at APL rates. The LDF Governement's missions pertaining to housing, environment-waste management-organic farming, education and health sectors will be formally announced on November 10. Housing Mission will provide houses to all homeless families in five years. Along with housing facilities, they will be provided with means of livelihood, education, health facilities, elderly care and social security. The health mission will focus on making government hospitals people friendly, reducing delay at the OP blocks, time bond health check up.

Under Education mission the government has already announced in budget that 1000 government schools will be raised to the level of international schools. Haritha Kerala Mission will focus on waste management, conservation of water resources and organic farming. Vacancies: The post falling vacant will be examined every month. The chief secretary will be intimating the Cabinet about the vacancies every month. He will also discuss appointment issues with the PSC.
