Telangana: Hot weather to prevail for 3 days

The rise in mercury levels is likely to continue for the next 72 hours.

Hyderabad: Hot and dry winds from Rajasthan have entered Telangana state through Madhya Pradesh, resulting in a rise in day temperatures. Hyderabad recorded 33.8° Celsius on Tuesday, three degrees above normal for this time of year. Ramagundam registered 34.8°C, Nizamabad 34 °C and Hanamkonda 34 °C.

The rise in mercury levels is likely to continue for the next 72 hours. There may be a change in weather after three days, depending on the development of the depression over the Arabian Sea, said weather department authorities.

Chief Meteorologist with Skymet an independent weather observatory Mahesh Palawat, said, “An anti-cyclone, when winds rotate in a clockwise direction, is prevailing over Central Madhya Pradesh. The north-westerly winds which are hot and dry are currently moving in a semi-circular direction, with the starting point being Rajasthan and the other end, Telangana. Temperatures over Rajasthan are touching 40°C and Central India registered temperatures above normal. This dry and hot condition is likely to remain for the next two or three days; the change in weather will depend on the strength of the depression over south-east Arabian Sea.”

Meanwhile, the south-west monsoon currents have turned weak over Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema. Scattered rainfall was recorded in isolated places over AP. Both the Telugu states are undergoing a transitional period as the rains have moved towards the North-eastern belt.

The forecast announced for Telangana is mostly dry weather. Thunderstorm may occur at isolated places due to the rising temperatures. The city could get rain towards the evening or night hours. The day and night temperatures will be around 34° and 22 ° Celsius respectively.
