Siddaramaiah will lead Congress, Dr G Parameshwar after Sonia Gandhi tap
Bengaluru: KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar on Monday played out a new tune—CM Siddaramaiah would lead the party in the battle of ballots next year.
Reversing his week-old stand of a collective leadership to pilot the party in elections 2018, he told the media that with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi clearing Mr Siddaramaiah’s candidature, the question of who will lead the party in the polls does not arise.
“As a loyal Congressman, I accept the party diktat without question. When Siddaramaiah's name is cleared by none other than Mrs Gandhi and I in my capacity as KPCC president endorse his leadership, the question of who will lead the party in the polls does not arise,” he said, adding that the media should not rake up this issue in future.
Dr Parameshwar said the party and leaders would "wholeheartedly" accept Mr Siddaramaiah as CM in the event of the party coming to power." From now onwards there should be no confusion about this matter, as I, the KPCC president am clearing up the misunderstanding,” he said.
