Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl drowned in a reservoir canal in Mahbubnagar district on Sunday eve-ning, while her brother was rescued by the villagers. The girl was identified as Triveni and her brother as Saiteja.
According to Police, the canal of Faridpur reservoir passes through Chinnachintakunta mandal in Mahbubnagar district.
Renuka, a resident of Chinnachintakunta we-nt to the canal to wash clothes. Triveni and Saiteja also accompanied her to the canal. While she was busy washing clothes, her kids were playing on the bank and accidentally fell in the canal. Renuka noticed this and raised an alarm. Other villagers in the surrounding area rushed to their rescue. They rescued Saiteja, but Triveni drowned in the flow. Her body was recovered after a couple of hours.
