Rahul Gandhi condemns Baramulla attack, pays tribute to BSF braveheart
New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday condemned the attack on an Army base in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, stating that his thoughts and prayers are with the soldiers defending the nation.
"My thoughts & prayers are with our soldiers as they defend and protect our country. Salute to the martyr who laid down his life," he said in a series of tweets.
Condemning the attack on the headquarters of the 46 Rashtriya Rifles in which a BSF personnel was killed, Rahul further asserted that terror and hatred can never succeed against the courage and resolve of India's soldiers.
IG BSF (Kashmir) said that terrorists tried to enter the Army camp but Indian forces retaliated, following which the terrorists fled the scene.
The BSF jawan who was injured in the attack was admitted to the RR camp hospital and is out of danger.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has discussed and reviewed the security situation with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in wake of the Baramulla attack.
Singh spoke to Director General, BSF, K.K. Sharma and asked him to provide best medical facilities to the injured jawan.
This is the second instance of infiltration post the Uri terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in which 19 soldiers lost their lives.
