On July 27 too the 40-feet Kempty waterfall had seen a rise in water level during another bout of rainfall in the state. The waterfall was closed earlier in July due to heavy rains.
The meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Rain has caused widespread damage in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, with 16 people reported dead in 16 districts in 48 hours.
The floods in Uttar Pradesh come weeks after the devastating floods that ravaged Kerala.
