Hyderabad: When liquor flows freely along with free food, rules take a toll, as pictures of people attending Pragati Nivedana Sabha go viral on social media.

A video of liquor being distributed in an RTC bus headed to Kongara Kalan was extensively shared on Facebook and Twitter.

An image of Karyakartas carrying alcohol and another video of an unidentified drunk man, carrying the TRS flag, falling off his vehicle went viral, showing the free flow of liquor for the event.

Opposition leaders were quick to retort as the images and videos circulated. TPCC spokesperson Dr Sravan Dasoju said, “Telangana State Road Transport Authorities must feel ashamed that official buses are being misused to drink alcohol. It is not Bangaru Telangana but drunkards Telangana. This is mockery of democracy. Giving money to people is proof of the narcissism of the government.”

Some of them were seen posing with the bottles. Other images circulating include that of a goat and chopping of meat for consumption. BJP MLA Raja Singh said, “The video of people consuming alcohol in a bus is proof of how the TRS took people to the Sabha. What is the message your karyakartas are giving by consuming alcohol in public?”

transportation ? All parties, including the BJP and Congress, organise such public meetings to show their strength, but this sanskruti at least is not in our party. Our party karyakartas come without taking money, but TRS karyakartas first take alcohol, then food and finally money".

Meanwhile netizens called the use liquor and money to attract people as waste of money. Pictures of the bike rally taken out by TRS leaders to reach the venue were taken. Netizens were quick to point out that they did not wear helmets, ignoring the “Gift a helmet” campaign by MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha and tagged her. They questioned the security of the people who were travelling on top of the buses to reach their destinations.
