Kurnool sings praises of Ganapathi Bappa Morya

Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy launched the idol immersion at Vinayaka Ghaat and it continued from 3 p.m. to 12 in the midnight.

Kurnool: The district police department heaved a sigh of relief after bringing down the curtains on the 9-day Ganesh festivities, the centralised Ganesh idol immersion procession passed peacefully and the Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) also went off peacefully on Saturday amid tight security. About 2500 security personnel, including special party teams, were deployed in the massive security arrangements to succeed peaceful the two major occasions.

The immersion of Ganesh idols was held in a grand manner in Kurnool city on Saturday. All the streets in the city reverberated with the chants of 'Ganapathi Bappa Moriya'. As many as 1800 idols were installed at various places in the city and offered prayers for the last nine days.

The processions with the idols continued from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the city. Kurnool MP Butta Renuka, MLAs SV Mohan Reddy, Gouru Charitha, district collector S Satyanarayana, SP Gopinath Jetti and others were started the Shobha Yatra at Rambhotla temple. The idols installed around Rambhotla temple were taken through one-town Flower Bazaar, Sharaf Bazaar, Park Road, zilla parishad, Raj Vihar, Budhavarapet, General Hospital Road and brought to Vinayak Ghat for the immersion.

Similarly, those installed at Venkataramana Colony, Narsingaraopet, Ballari Chowrasta and Kallur areas were also brought in a procession to Raj Vihar and immersed at Vinayak Ghat. The idols from Birla Gate and C Camp also were brought to Vinayak Ghat where cultural programmes were performed on a dais set up at the place.

Apart from this, the officials and political leader also attended the prayers of Muslims who organized at various mosques and Eidgahs in the city. Anyhow elders of the both religious communities and the police have succeed in the maintenance of communal harmony on the eve of the two big festivals. The deputy CM appreciated the district administration especially the police department in this issue.
