BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has taken up investigation in the abetment (Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code) of suicide of former deputy superintendent of police, Mangaluru M.K. Ganapati is likely to complete the investigation and submit the report before the JMFC Court, Madikeri before September 19, sources told this newspaper.

"The Court, while directing the Madikeri police to register an abetment case against the former minister and Congress leader K.J. George (A1), Inspector General of Police Pronab Mohanty (A2) and Additional Director General of Police A.M Prasad (A3) in the FIR 89/16 had set a deadline of September 19. CID has finished most of the investigation in the case and also recorded the statements of the three accused," said an official source.

"In his last interview to a local TV channel in Madikeri, Ganapati had alleged harassment at the hands of the three accused and stated that they should be held responsible if something happened to him, but so far the investigating officer has not found any evidence to substantiate the charges. In the absence of any evidence of abetment they may submit a 'B'(closure) report," the source added.
