'Data is cheaper, atta is dearer': Lalu's dig at Modi for Reliance Jio ad
New Delhi: A day after AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal mocked PM Narendra Modi for featuring in a Reliance Jio advertisement, it was RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s turn.
"What will the poor eat: atta (wheat flour) or data? Data is cheaper, atta is dearer. This is their definition of changing the country. While you're at it, please explain who will solve the problem of call drops," the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief tweeted in Hindi on Saturday.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday called PM Modi "Mr Reliance" and accused him of "openly endorsing" the Jio product.
"Modiji you keep modelling for Reliance ads. Labourers across the country will teach you a lesson in 2019," Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
The Congress also slammed Modi, saying he should take action against Reliance Jio if the telecom company has failed to take permission from the PMO for using his photo in the ad.
Reliance dedicated the Jio 4G service to the Modi government's flagship Digital India project. During the announcement on Thursday, Mukesh Ambani had said "Jio will fulfil Digital India dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi".
