Jeevan Reddy Urges Govt to Reschedule Gurukul Exams

Hyderabad: Congress MLC T. Jeevan Reddy on Thursday urged the state government to reschedule the Gurukul exams, pointing out that candidates were allocated three different test centres for three papers of a single subject.

The Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Recruitment Board (TREIRB) had issued a notification in May to recruit over 9,000 junior lecturers (JL), trained graduate teachers (TGTs), postgraduate teachers (PGTs), and art and craft teachers. More than 2.5 lakh candidates applied.

Last week, when the hall tickets were generated, candidates were shocked to find that they were assigned test centres in districts away from their native places. Some were also allotted to separate districts for different papers of the same exam.

Jeevan Reddy appealed to the government to reschedule the exams by allocating centres in the native districts of candidates.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Reddy, who represents graduates in the Legislative Council, criticised the state government for causing severe hardship to the candidates. The situation is particularly challenging for women, who now have to attend one paper in one district and the others elsewhere. The rains will add to their plight, he said.

“I have written to TREIRB chief and TSWREIS secretary Ronald Rose about the difficulties being faced by the candidates. There has been no response, as yet,” the senior leader said.

For instance, Javed Danish from Nizamabad, who is appearing for TGT, PGT and JL test, has been allocated test centres for nine papers in five different districts.

“I am from Nizamabad. I have been allocated centres in Medchal, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts apart from Nizamabad. I have to travel to another district for a test a day after writing one,” says Danish.

He said that it was more painful for his friend, a physically-challenged candidate, from the same district. His test centres are in Hyderabad and Medchal districts.
