Bengaluru: Finally, the Special Investigating Team (SIT), which was constituted to probe the IMA Ponzi scam, got the custody of kingpin Mohammad Mansoor Khan. But it can interrogate him only after he is released from the Jayadeva Hospital, where he is being treated for a severe heart pain. “We will get his custody once he is discharged from the hospital,” sources explained.
SIT had convinced Mansoor, who was holed up in Dubai, to come back and face the investigation. But it had failed to get the custody as Enforcement Directorate (ED) had taken him for questioning for 14 days.
The lower court had handed him over to the judicial custody on Thursday and sent him to the Central prison. But within a few hours, he complained of chest pain and was shifted to Jayadeva Hospital on Thursday night.
IPS babu questioned
SIT grilled IPS officer Ajay Hilori in connection with the IMA scam on Friday. Hilori, who is the Battalion Commandant of City Armed Reserve, was questioned by the Joint Commissioner Ravikanthe Gowda and DCP Crime Girish.
The RBI had given directions to the government to investigate the matter. Hilori was questioned on the basis of issues raised by Marketing and Intelligence departments of RBI.
It is said that, Hilori when he was DCP East division did not allow complaints to be lodged against IMA ponzhi scheme. It is also alleged that the officer helped Mansoor get a clean chit in past cases. Hilori was inquired why he did not take action in spite of complaints against IMA.
