Bengaluru: Uncle-turned-lover snuffs life out of pregnant paramour, held

The girl, who was found to be strangled to death, was later identified as Chitra, a staff member of Orion Mall.

Bengaluru: A young girl, who fell prey to her maternal uncle’s sexual advances, was allegedly murdered by him in the city.

On July 23, an unidentified body of a woman was found by the Hirisave police in the bushes of Mattanavile next to the Chennarayapatna National Highway. The girl, who was found to be strangled to death, was later identified as Chitra, a staff member of Orion Mall. Investigations revealed the murderer was her own uncle Srinivas (38), employed in a private company in the city. Chitra, who was the niece of Srinivas' wife, allegedly got into an affair with him despite being aware of his marital status.

Srinivas, who also has children, allegedly swore his love to Chitra and got her into the relationship. When Chitra got pregnant, she started pestering Srinivas to marry her. Srinivas hatched a plot to murder her, and on July 23, he convinced her to go out with him. He then strangled her and dumped her body near NH 75.

Chitra's family came to know of her death after the photo of her corpse went viral on social media sites. Later, they filed a police complaint.
