Bengaluru: Top cop Alok Kumar transferred
Bengaluru: The BJP government effected major transfers of IPS officers on Friday. As expected, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Alok Kumar was transferred and posted to KSRP. Sources said that he will challenge the transfer order at the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) along with other IAS and IPS officers who are not happy with their transfers.
Senior IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Bhaskar Rao has been appointed the new police commissioner of Bengaluru.
With this, the BJP government has transferred all the senior officers from key positions in the police department, who were appointed by the previous H.D. Kumaraswamy government.
The blue-eyed boys of HDK government – senior officers Ravikanthe Gowda and Devaraja – have been given new postings. Mr Ravikanthe Gowda was first appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (West), but the order was revoked within a couple of hours, and he was posted as DG&IGP, Bengaluru without giving any responsibility.
Similarly, Mr Umesh Kumar, who was transferred to Police Fire Services, has been retained in his present position as the Joint Commissioner of Police, West Bengaluru.
