Bengaluru: Rs 4,000 PM Kisan Samman Yojan for all farmers in 20 days

Under the scheme, the first instalment of Rs 2,000 will be remitted in farmers\' accounts soon after the GO is issued.

Bengaluru: There is happy news for farmers with Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa directing officials to remit Rs 4,000 in their accounts in two instalments under the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Yojana within 15-20 days. Soon after taking charge, Mr Yediyurappa, known popularly as Raitha Mitra (farmers' friend) had announced the bonanza for farmers.

Chairing a review meeting with divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of zilla panchayats here on Friday, the Chief Minister said a government order will be issued in this regard in a day or two.

Under the scheme, the first instalment of Rs 2,000 will be remitted in farmers' accounts soon after the GO is issued.

The Rs 4,000 contribution of the state government will augment the Rs 6,000 financial assistance which the Centre had announced for farmers in a year.

Expressing concern over deficit rainfall from the South-West Monsoon, the CM pointed out that the deficit is as high as 42%. Drinking water is being supplied to 3,067 villages through tankers and borewells which reveals the gravity of the drought, he remarked.

Necessary action been taken to provide jobs to people under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

There is no shortage of funds to take up emergency relief works as adequate funds are available in the accounts of deputy commissioners, Mr. Yediyurappa said.

The CM directed the chief secretary to visit the districts every month while the district incharge secretaries must visit districts twice in a month, Mr Yediyurappa assured officers that he will protect their interests and will not entertain any false or baseless complaints against them. He wanted them to visit hostels run by the social welfare department and oversee the implementation of various schemes of the Centre and state government.
