Asifabad: Road connectivity hit as water rises

Rivulets and streams are flowing high with floodwater and road connectivity to many interior villages was affected.

KUMARAMBHEEM/ASIFABAD: The incessant heavy rains at various places created panic in Kumarambheem, Asifabad and Mancherial districts on Friday.

Villages in Kerameri and Tiryani mandal are also facing a flood-like situation. Villages located on the banks of the river Pranahitha and the Godavari are also under the threat of being submerged as water is flowing above the normal level and if the rains continue the situation could become worse.

Rivulets and streams are flowing high with floodwater and road connectivity to many interior villages was affected. As floodwater enters the homes in located in low lying areas a number of houses collapse were reported. The Salugupalli village in Bejjur mandal in Kumarambheem Asifabad district was submerged in floodwater as the Pranahitha-Chevella canal was overflowing.

Salugupalli villagers said that the contractor who had undertaken the canal work refused to hear their plea to complete the canal so as to avoid submergence of the village.

In Chinthakunta in Sirpur (T) an auto rickshaw was stranded in floodwaters when the check dam breached. Villagers had to drag it out with ropes. So far no loss of human life has been reported in old Adilabad district.
