Two-child norm sought: MP Uday Pratap Singh

Singh made the demand during the Zero Hour and stated that countries like China have taken steps to check population growth.

New Delhi: While the NRC issue continues to raise storm across the country, BJP MP Uday Pratap Singh in Lok Sabha on Thursday asked the government to bring a population control law to ensure a two-child norm for a family. Singh made the demand during the Zero Hour and stated that countries like China have taken steps to check population growth.

The BJP MP, who represents the Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh, demanded that a law should be enacted to control population and ensure that a family can have only two children. He highlighted population growth in the country and stated that this led to various problems, including on the employment front. Singh said that the Narendra Modi government which has implemented demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) should also come out with such a law and implement it throughout the country.
