BJP targets MIM over illegal settlers

Mr Reddy said the issue of Bangladesh illegal immigrants was not related to any religion or language but national security and sovereignty.

Hyderabad: BJP MLA and party floor leader in the Legislative Assembly, G Kishan Reddy, on Thursday accused the MIM of making Hyderabad a ‘safe zone’ for illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and other countries for its political gains. He alleged that, with the support of MIM, several illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Burma were entering the state.

“Due to the cooperation of a communal party like the MIM, Rohingyas and other illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Burma have entered Hyderabad. In Balapur, illegal migrants have set up their own dargah and even their own colony. Hafeezbaba Nagar, Paha-di Sharif and Kishan Bagh in the city have become a den for Rohin-gyas.” Mr Reddy remar-ked, while addressing a press conference here.

He asked the MIM why it was supporting illegal immigrants and asked Cova, an NGO, how it was issuing identity cards for such immigrants. Mr Reddy termed Rohingyas as 'illegal immigrants' and not 'refugees'. He said even Islamic countries were refusing entry to Rohingyas but MIM had been supporting them. Mr Reddy demanded that the Telangana state government disclose the details of illegal immigrants residing in Hyderabad and elsewhere in the state, and submit those details to the Centre for necessary action. He said there was nothing wrong in allowing the entry of Hindus from Pakistan into India because they were refugees. Mr Reddy said the issue of Bangladesh illegal immigrants was not related to any religion or language but national security and sovereignty.
