Warangal police rescue 147 children

Police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said they are trying to eradicate child labour from the commissionerate.

Warangal: Warangal police has rescued 147 children working in various business establishments during the third phase of ‘Operation Muskaan’ in July. Police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said they are trying to eradicate child labour from the commissionerate.

He said the police rescued 66 children in central zone, 39 in west zone and 42 in east zone. Of the rescued children, 23 were girls. While 110 were from TS, the rest are from 13 other states.

“The children were found at construction sites, brick companies and other places. Two of the children were reported as missing. We arrested 24 persons. The children were handed over to the child welfare committee,” he added.

Soon Warangal commissionerate will be child labour free," the commissioner said.

In the three zones of the commissionerate, three teams each with one SI, three constables and one women constable were constituted. A total of nine teams are working as part of Operation Muskaan.
