Telangana gets its way, Centre releases Rs 450 crore
Hyderabad: The Central government has released Rs 450 crore to the TS government under the backward areas development scheme for the current financial year.
As per the assurance given in the AP Reorganisation Act, the Centre has been releasing Rs 450 crore per year at the rate of Rs 50 crore each for nine districts.
The state government had been exerting pressure on the Centre since the last two months to release the funds for the current financial year. However, the Centre had insisted on submission of utilisation certificates for the funds already released under the scheme before it releases fresh funds.
The state government had sent utilisation certificates twice, but the Union finance ministry was not satisfied. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had discussed the release of funds with finance minister Arun Jaitley during his recent visit to Delhi.
