Coimbatore: A court in Coimbatore on Thursday extended the custody of middleman Sukesh Chandrasekhar till August 17.

Sukesh was arrested by the Delhi Police for his alleged bid to bribe an Election Commission (EC) official on behalf of AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dhinakaran.

Sukesh, now in Tihar Jail in Delhi in connection with the two-leaves symbol case, was brought in Coimbatore on Thursday by Delhi Police and produced before Second Judicial Magistrate Rajkumar.

The case related to alleged cheating of a kitchen equipment dealer Rajavelu of Rs 2.50 lakh on the promise of securing a tender from the Karnataka government in 2010.

Charges against Sukesh were framed in the cheating case by the magisterial court in Coimbatore on July 20.

The magistrate on Thursday extended Sukesh's custody till August 17 and directed authorities to produce him on that day.

Later, Sukesh was taken to Delhi by train amid tight security.
