119 MBBS seats vacant in Kerala government colleges after Round 1

Seats vacant after Round 2 to be turned into state quota.

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 119 MBBS seats, out of 194 available, are lying vacant in nine government medical colleges in the state after round one of all-India quota counselling conducted by the medical counselling committee on July 22.

The facility for the second round of allotment which began on Tuesday will be available on MCC website http://mcc.nic.in/ till 5 pm on August 4. The second round is the last for all-India quota and the remaining vacant seats will be turned into state quota. The seats fall vacant as students from other states who are allotted to the state are not willing to join them.

Government TD Medical College, Alappuzha, tops the list with 22 vacant seats and government medical college, Kozhikode, comes last with four. The process for online allotment to fill up vacant seats in government, aided, government-controlled self-financing engineering colleges and government pharmacy colleges conducted by the commissioner for entrance examinations commenced on Tuesday.
