Action against parents who assisted children in Eamcet-2 papers fraud
Hyderabad: Crime Investigation Department officials are likely to take action against the parents who had paid for the leaked Eamcet-2 question papers for their wards.
CID officials met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday and discussed the possibilities of prosecuting the parents.
CID suspects that over 200 students had benefitted from the scam and that over 34 agents were involved — six have already been arrested.
The names of three new key conspirators of the scam — Mukul Jain, Mayank Sharma and Sunil Sharma — came up on Tuesday. They are yet to be arrested.
According to CID sources, no parent has been named in the FIR registered in the case. However, since investigation has revealed that several parents had encouraged their children to take the illegal way to get top ranks, officials have decided to initiate action against them too.
Most parents of the students involved in the scam had direct contact with the brokers before their children. Many transferred money from their accounts to the brokers’, while a few paid via hawala.
“The parents should also be brought before the law and should be punished. We are exploring various legal aspects of the case to do that,” said a CID official.
Corporate institutions under check
Intelligence sleuths will keep an eye on corporate colleges and coaching institutes for the next 40 days, till Eamcet-3 for admission into medical and dental courses is held on September 11.
The government is understood to have decided to keep a tab on corporate colleges in view of allegations that some of them were involved in question paper leak case.
A few student unions had alleged that scam was the handiwork of few corporate colleges.
CID investigations had shown that the director of a coaching academy, with centres in Hyderabad and Khammam, had got the leaked question paper and ensured 23rd rank for his daughter. She had got 10,000-plus ranks in previous test.
