Telangana roads 4th in revenue collections

The department is planning to have a grievance cell and an app for consumers to register complaints, apart from a dedicated phone number and email ID.

Hyderabad: The state road transport department stood fourth nation-wide in collecting revenue.

It collected Rs 7 crore in permit fee alone for 2018-19. This was stated by transport minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy at a review meeting on Tuesday.

He said a committee would be formed to analyse the functioning of the department.

It would submit its report in the next fortnight and the work in the department would be streamlined based on its recommendations.

The department is planning to have a grievance cell and an app for consumers to register complaints, apart from a dedicated phone number and email ID.

“We will make the transport department as transparent as possible,” the minister said.

During the meeting, officials said that due to the lack of availability of cards and ribbons, printing of driving licences had been delayed.

“There are about 2.3 lakh cards pending and the backlog would be cleared in 15 days,” an official said.
