Vijayawada: In a tragic case, a first-year intermediate student reportedly suffered massive cardiac arrest and died while attending the class at a private junior college at Gudavalli here on Tuesday morning.
According to police, Tanguturi Harshavardhan Reddy, 16, hailing from Gogulavaripalli village of Kadapa mandal, was a student of maths-physics-chemistry group at the private college. At 7.50 am while maths teacher Chakrapani was taking the class he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.
On preliminary investigation, the police found that the student was obese and weighed 95 kg. It was suspected that the cardiac arrest was caused due to overweight. His body was sent for post-mortem examination to a government hospital.
Police has booked a case and the investigation is on.
