Chennai: Petrol bombs hurled on activist

The police said that two petrol bombs were thrown at him, However, he escaped unhurt, police said.

Chennai: Unidentified persons hurled petrol bombs on a social activist on the Chennai- Trichy national highway on Monday night.

The police said that two petrol bombs were thrown at him, However, he escaped unhurt, police said.

According to police, the attack took place around 8 pm when Raja( 45), a social activist and a resident of Sothupakkam inKancheepuram , was heading back home on his wheeler.

Police said, when he was near Olupakkam on the Chennai- Trichy high road, three unidentified men on two-wheelers chased him and started hurling petrol bombs on him.

However, since he was riding the bike, he allegedly moved to the corner of the road and the two bombs exploded on the road.

The police said that the man was unhurt. and no damages were reported in the incident.

On being informed, the Madurantakam police rushed to the spot and conducted inquries.

A case has been registered and the identity of the assailants is yet to be traced, said the police.
