Corporator's mom dies in ORR mishap

The corporator and father survived with injuries and were being treated at a hospital in the city.

Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman, mother of Alwal corporator, was killed in a road accident on the outer ring road at Abdullapurmet on Monday. The corporator and father survived with injuries and were being treated at a hospital in the city.

The accident took place when the corporator’s father C. Balreddy stopped the car suddenly to avoid hitting a stray dog on the road, said the police.

Abdullapurmet inspector D. Muni said Chintala Vijaya Shanthi Reddy, the corporator, along with her parents Vijaya Lakshmi, 55, and Balreddy, were returning from Srisailam on Monday in a car when the accident took place.

“Balreddy, who was on the wheels, was forced to stop the car suddenly to avoid hitting a stray dog. The car overturned and Vijaya Lakshmi, who had not fastened her seat belt, received severe head injury and died while shifting to a hospital. The corporator and her father survived with critical injuries and were being treated at a private hospital in the city. No case has been registered as the victims did not lodge a complaint,” said the inspector.
