Case against EVKS' bro Iniyan Sampath
Chennai: The city police have registered a case against Iniyan Sampath (62), brother of former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president EVKS Elangovan and son of late Dravidian leader, EVK Sampath for allegedly harassing his niece.
According to sources, the 24-year-old niece of Iniyan had lodged a complaint at Neelankarai police station alleging he was harassing her for ‘favours’. The woman is living in R.A. Puram in Mandaveli with her husband while Iniyan’s residence is in Kottivakkam near Neelankarai.
“Iniyan has allegedly been coercing his niece, who married a man against the will of her parents, for ‘favours’. Although the woman requested her elderly uncle to stop harassing her, he is said have continuously pestered her,” the source said.
Unable to withstand the harassment on phone and in person at times, the woman warned her uncle of a police case. Panicked by this, Iniyan Sampath filed a theft complaint against the victim in Neelangarai police station. The police, after the investigation, found that the complaint was false and reportedly warned Iniyan Sampath, the sources added.
“Intimidated by Iniyan Sampath’s fake police complaint, the woman lodged a complaint against him on Saturday,” the sources said. Based on the complaint, Neelankarai police registered a case against Iniyan Sampath and launched a search for him who is at large.
Iniyan Sampath is a member of TTV Dhinakaran led AMMK party, sources added.
