32-year-old NRI drowns in waterfall in US
VIJAYAWADA: An NRI from the state drowned at a waterfall in North Carolina in the US. Gogineni Nagarjuna, 32, from Gottimukkala of Nandigama, died on Monday, his friends informed his family.
Nagarjuna and his friends had gone to a waterfall at North Carolina, where Nagarjuna reportedly slipped and drowned. Rescue staff found his body after half-an-hour.
Nagarjuna had gone to the US in 2008 to do his masters and stayed back after getting a job.
Nagarjuna is the son of the late Gogineni Venkata Rao, who had worked for the TD in the village. Nagarjuna has two brothers and a sister. The body will be brought home on Wednesday after the formalities are completed.
Mr Venkateswara Rao, Nagarjuna’s relative, said, as the last son, he was the pet of his mother Lakshmi. He used to come to India regularly during the holidays. Nandigama MLA Tangirala Soumya visited Nagarjuna’s house and consoled his mother and other family members. She mentioned about Nagarjuna’s father Venkata Rao’s services to the party.
