Kerala: KB Ganesh Kumar wanted AMMA dissolved

The letter even sneered at the meeting the film fraternity had hastily organised in Kochi two days after the incident had occured.

Thiruvananthapuram: It has now been revealed that K.B. Ganesh Kumar MLA, who was widely criticised for his outburst against the media after the AMMA general body meeting on June 29, had earlier shot off a scathing letter to AMMA in which he had even called for the dissolution of the association. The strongly-worded letter, now in the public, is critical of AMMA for not intervening effectively in the case related to the assault on a female actor.

The letter even sneered at the meeting the film fraternity had hastily organised in Kochi two days after the incident had occured. “Holding a secret meeting in Mammootty’s house and then organising a public meeting in support of the victim is just not enough,” he said in the letter. The letter also stated that AMMA took an indifferent stand when Dileep’s name was dragged into the issue.

Now, after the letter had been leaked, Ganesh Kumar has taken the stand that Innocent had given satisfactory replies for all his posers and therefore, the letter ceased to have any relevance. “I had my doubts and raised it through the letter,” Mr Kumar said. “All the issues that I had raised were discussed threadbare at the executive committee. Assurance was given that issues that could be solved would be settled that night itself. It was also put down in writing, too,” he said. The letter would have been discussed in the general body the next day but Mr Kumar said he did not press for a discussion on his letter. According to Ganesh, during the general body meeting the next day he himself had exhorted members to give vent to their doubts and concerns the way he had. “But no one present had any doubts,” he added.

Mr Kumar refuted the charge that he had leaked the letter. “If anyone can prove that I had leaked it, I am willing to do anything they ask of me,” he told reporters here on Sunday. “This was not a secret letter. Along with the president, I had sent the letter to the executive members of AMMA,” Mr Kumar said. He also said that no AMMA member had attempted or would ever attempt to influence the probe into the assault on the actor.
