RTC bus mows down salesman in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 34-year-old employee of Priya Foods was killed in an accident at Bowenpally on Saturday. Police said that D. Srinivas Rao who was riding a bike was trying to overtake an RTC bus when it hit and ran over him.

Srinivas was wearing protective gear at the time of the incident. Police said Srinivas, hailing from West Godavari district, was staying at Qutbullapur along with his wife and two kids and was working as a sales executive with Priya Foods.

On Saturday morning he started from home on his bike. After crossing Bowenpally check post he tried to overtake an RTC bus going towards Secunderabad.

“He was overtaking from the right side. But the bus driver moved towards the right without seeing him and hit his bike. The bike fell down and Srinivas came under the right rear wheel of the bus,” said sub-inspector Srinivas of Bowenpally police station. Srinivas Rao’s helmet broke as the bus’s rear wheels went over him and he suffered a serious head injury.

Mr Rao died on the spot. An accidental death case was registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

Bus driver D. Prakash Nayak was taken into custody immediately for questioning, police sources said.
