Adilabad: Contestants cool off in Maha camps

They were taken to the camps immediately after voting was over, and will return only just before the ZP chairperson polls will be held.

Adilabad: Candidates contesting the mandal parishad and zilla parishad territorial committee elections are rela-xing in the camps being held in Maharashtra.

They have been taken to the camps by their respective political parties to protect them from the prying eyes of rivals ahead of the elections to the mandal parishad presidents and zilla parishad chairpersons.

They were taken to the camps immediately after voting was over, and will return only just before the ZP chairperson polls will be held.

All major political parties have shifted their contesting candidates to cool places where they are given VIP treatment. Political parties are scared of poaching of their candidates.

It is said that there is a tough fight between the BJP and the Congress as far as the Adilabad ZP chairman’s post is concerned. Candidates aspiring for the post are spending money to shift the ZPTCs to camps so that they do not come under any influence.

State leaders of the BJP are monitoring the local body elections and making all out efforts to win the Adilabad ZP chairman’s post.

The BJP wants to send a strong message to opponent political parties that they will continue the winning spree till they come to power after five years in the state. The party has won the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency with its candidate Soyam Bapurao.

The Congress is making efforts to win the ZP chairman’s posts but has a problem of money.

The TRS is ready to spend money to capture the ZP posts at any cost since the party was defeated in the Adilabad Lok Sabha elections.

The ZP post is crucial and adds weight during the Assembly and parliamentary elections.
