Visakhapatnam: Rainfall likely as humidity rises
Visakhapatnam: The consistent high humidity of 80 per cent has been making life miserable for residents of North Andhra (Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts) for the past four days.
The meteorological department has predicted that the humidity will remain close to 80 percent in many coastal areas in North Andhra region for a few more days. However, met officials have also said the rising humidity levels indicate that moderate to heavy rainfall is around the corner.
Though day temperatures in Vizag region have registered a maximum of 38OC this summer, the high humidity level is making it seem as though the temperature has been hiked by another 5OC. “The weather conditions in Vizag have changed in the past few years; the weather is quite muggy these days and humidity is so high that it is making everything sticky and wet. It is difficult to stay indoors and worse if you step out”, says G. Ganesh, a marketing executive, who is always on the move.
Children have been complaining of itchiness due to the sultry weather conditions. “We are waiting for the south-west monsoon showers as the sultry weather conditions would end once the monsoon hits AP”, says K. Gopi, a resident of MVP Colony area in Vizag.
Meanwhile, with the weather condition being the way it is, people are thronging to the beaches and swimming pools in the evenings.
