Hyderabad: The Army has hit upon another measure to build up its case of a security threat and close roads in the AOC ara. It is now using video cameras to record arguments with civilians on the Golf Course-Yapral road for the past three days.
This came after the recent ministry of defence orders allowing the Local Military Authority to close roads based on its secuity assessment.
Mr Jithender Surana, a member of Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR), said, “Soldiers are filming vehicular movement and commuters, while their drills are happening on the roads. They are trying to instigate the civilians. Even if a small argument happens, they are filming it.” When asked about the latest move, an Army official from the SCB said, “We are not aware that videos are being taken.”
When Mr K. Satyanarayana, an autorickshaw driver, asked the soldiers why they were using cameras, a jawan responded: “It is not related to you people, you can carry on! We are doing it for ourselves,” Residents are worried that the videos might be used as a tool to close the roads again.
