Hyderabad: After the death of Dasari Premchand while in the custody of Sanathnagar police, the latter are left clueless. Premchand, who had a theft case registered against him, was taken to Yadagirigutta on Wednesday for the recovery of the stolen property.
Since he was the only person with information on the stolen goods, cops say recovery is impossible. However, in the victim’s interest, the investigation is continuing and an attempt to obtain other clues are in progress, said officials.
Bajaj Electronics executives had complained on Tuesday that the driver of their delivery vehicle, Nagaraju, had sought Premchand’s help for delivery of goods. Nagaraju who knew Premchand for a long time, often took his help and paid him.
On Tuesday, while delivering a product, Nagaraju went to a customer’s residence leaving behind the cash bag with Premchand. Taking advantage, Premchand fled with the cash. After a case was registered, Premchand was picked up from Tarnaka. He admitted to the theft and told cops that he had given the stolen cash to a shop in Yadagirigutta.
“He was very confused about the identity of the shop. Had he given at least a clue about it, it would have helped us with the recovery. But since he is dead, there are no clues.” said an official. “Now it is impossible to recover the cash. But still we are analysing CC footages from the surroundings to verify the shop he visited. Though chances are negligible, we are doing our best,” the cops said.
