Telangana: South Central Railway plans 220 km rail line by 2017-18
Hyderabad: General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR) Vinod Kumar Yadav on Friday said that Telangana state would have 220 km of new railway lines by end of the financial year 2017-18 and about 433 km in the fiscal 2018-19.
While releasing three-year report on development activities at railway stations in Telangana state in connection with TS formation day, he said that the state has 210 railway stations with 1,736 km of railway lines.
He said that five railway stations in TS were declared Adarsh Stations in the last three years. “Four stations got building façade, six stations got new and additional foot over bridges, 10 stations got platform extensions, 16 stations got additional toilets and new and additional escalators and lifts have been provided at Nizamabad, Khammam, Kacheguda and Secunderabad stations,” he said.
He said five companies including GMR, CBRE and IL&FS Townships have filed pre-bids for the renovation of Secunderabad Railway Station. “After modernisation of stations, we use ground plus first floors for railway station and the remaining two floors for commercial purpose which will generate more revenue,” he said.
