Dr G Parameshwar quits but to be minister till Monday?
Bengaluru: Despite the Congress high command’s diktat that he should immediately step down as home minister after he was allowed to continue as KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar can continue as minister for some more time. Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has not even forwarded his resignation to the governor, with sources claiming he may not do it till Monday afternoon.
Or does the senior Dalit leader want to have his say before bidding adieu to the ministry?
There are two reasons which explain the delay in accepting the resignation. One strange reason, sources said, is to enable him to participate in a mega function organised by the government at Mysuru. During the function, ministers in the Siddaramaiah government will interact with beneficiaries of various welfare schemes and Dr Parameshwar can take part in it if he remains a minister!
The second reason seems even stranger. If his resignation is not accepted till Monday, Dr Parameshwar can actively participate in the Monsoon session of the state Legislature scheduled to start on the same day.
He is likely to make a brief statement after participating in the obituary references and then his resignation would be accepted by the CM, said sources. As for the all important home portfolio, the sources felt it would be held by the Chief Minister himself till the end of the legislature session after which he is expected to expand his cabinet and assign it to a minister.
