Karnataka: At last, CBSE X results out today

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) finally announced late Friday that it would release the Class X board examination results.

Bengaluru: After days of suspense the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) finally announced late Friday that it would release the Class X board examination results by 12 noon on Saturday, June 3.

According to a press communication by the board, CBSE students can access their results on www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in “The schools will automatically get their entire results on email IDs already registered with the board," said Mr Rama Sharma, PRO, CBSE, adding that the result could also be accessed through search engine www.bing.com.

Going by the board, the results will be posted on the Net with the technical support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Department of Information Technology, and Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The announcement came as a huge relief to students, their parents and the schools, as the results were expected on Friday.

Anxious parents, students, and school faculty waited for the whole day assuming they would be announced any time and grew worried in the absence of any clarification on the CBSE website when they were not.

Speaking to this newspaper, principals of several city schools expressed their anger over the delay in the announcement of results.

"All the state boards have already announced their Class X results. In Karnataka, the KSEEB announced its results as early as May 12.

But the CBSE, which has fewer students, has not even set a date for the results.

Although we have been contacting the officials concerned for the last one week, we still have no clue,” a principal complained earlier in the day, adding that the school had been flooded with inquiries from parents and students since morning. Several students too said the delay could cost them a PU seat in the merit quota and they would be forced to apply for a management quota seat and pay a fee of around Rs 80,000 a year for it.

"All the PU colleges started receiving applications on May 12 and and May 27 was the last date for submission with the marks card. Unfortunately, CBSE students were not able to submit the applications due to the delay and have missed the first round of merit seat allotment. Now we are have no option but to apply for management quota seats,” lamented one student, Raghu Shastri, of Malleshwaram.
