Heat wave fails to diminish spirit of Telangana Formation Day celebrations
Karimnagar: The scorching heat wave failed to dampen the spirit of Telangana Formation Day celebrations on Thursday.
The rise in mercury-level and humidity led to sweating but people continued to take part in rallies, raising Jai Telangana slogans. Rallies, cultural events, charity programmes, games and competitions, blood donations were held to mark the occasion.
In Karimnagar, people from all walks of life witnessed the celebrations held at the Police Parade Grounds. Many youngsters, carrying the tricolour, reached the venue and occupied the seats in advance. The cultural programmes, songs and skits presented by schoolchildren enthralled the audience.
Students of Alphores Educational Institutions took out a massive bike rally from Vavilalapalli to Telangana Talli statue. Later, chairman of the institutions V. Narender Reddy garlanded the statue. He paid tributes to the martyrs at Telangana memorial located near Sri Venkateswara temple. They formed a human chain at Telangana Chowk.
In Godavarikhani, hundreds of people took part in the 2K Run held by Ramagundam Area I of SCCL. A large number of NTPC employees in a plantation drive.
