30 inefficient MLAs face KCR's 'perform or perish' warning

Hyderabad: BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, once he returns from New Delhi after inaugurating the permanent BRS national office, is expected to begin one-on-one meetings with 30 BRS MLAs who performed poorly in surveys commissioned by him in the run-up to the November/December Assembly elections.

These 30 MLAs are most likely to lose their tickets in the upcoming Assembly elections if they do not improve in the next three months. The CM reportedly began the exercise to identify alternate candidates in these 30 constituencies in order to convey a strong warning to sitting MLAs that they will lose their seats if they fail to deliver within the next three months.

The buzz in TRS circles is that the CM was upset by the findings of the latest survey reports in 30 constituencies held by the BRS MLAs. MLAs representing Paleru, Alair, Korutla, Munugode, Patancheru, Secunderabad Cantonment, Kothagudem, Khairatabad, Parakala, Warangal East, Medak, Station Ghanpur, Jangaon, Mancherial etc., are said to have fared badly in the surveys. The CM reportedly identified alternate candidates for these 30 seats in the event of no improvement in the performance and ratings in the surveys in the next three months. It is believed that the CM is considering to field MLCs Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Shambipur Raju and Padi Kaushi Reddy in three Assembly constituencies.

The CM is also reportedly considering to field Pocharam Bhaskar Reddy and Gutha Amit Reddy, the sons of Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy for Banswada and Munugode constituencies respectively. It is said that the speaker wants to quit on his own citing age grounds and requested party leadership to consider his son in his place.

Although the CM fielded Gellu Srinivas Yadav in Huzurabad bypoll in 2021 against BJP's Etala Rajender after Etala quit BRS (then TRS), the CM appointed MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy as BRS Huzurabad constiuency incharge recently giving clear indications that Kaushik Reddy will be BRS candidate for Huzurabad in upcoming Assembly polls.

At the BRS plenary on April 27 at Telangana Bhavan, the CM warned 'corrupt' and 'non-performing' MLAs that if they did not change their ways, they would be denied party tickets to contest the upcoming Assembly elections. The CM stated that he has a list of such MLAs and that they will face the consequences if there is no change in the way their function.
