Warangal: BJP questions delay in action over Inter exam fiasco

Party wants Governor to dismiss education minister.

Warangal: Even after the series of suicides by Intermediate students after the declaration of exam results, the TRS government was yet to take action against those who were involved in the goof up, said former mayor and senior BJP leader T. Rajeshwar Rao.

The BJP on Thursday called for a bandh in Warangal protesting against the inaction of the state government regarding the Intermediate results goof up.

Speaking on the occasion, T. Rajeshwar Rao urged Governor E.S.L Narasimhan to order an inquiry into the errors in the Intermediate results that led many students to take the extreme step.

“The Governor should dismiss minister for education G. Jagadeeshwar Reddy who is unwilling to take moral responsibility for the fiasco. It has become a trend for the ruling party leaders to counterattack instead of accepting their failures,” he said.

Former minister Gunde Vijayarama Rao questioned why the government had failed to take action against the Board of Intermediate Education and Globarena even after the three-member committee found fault with them.

The negligence and incompetence of the authorities affected a total of 9.74 lakh students who appeared in the Intermediate examinations.

Referring to the TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s response over the issue, state general secretary Chintha Samba Murthy said he was accusing the opposition parties of blowing the issue out of proportion instead of showing the students a way out of the mess.

“The government should provide Xerox copies of answer sheets to the students so that they could check their performance,” he added.

The police arrested the leaders while they were forcing the shutters of business establishments down in Hanamkonda Chowrastha. BJP state secretariat member Rao, Amarender Reddy, senior leaders K. Santhosh Reddy, Vinod, P. Rajendraprasad, K. Satyanarayana, G. Koteshwar, Mahesh Goud, P. Suresh, Rajesh Khanna, Sekhar and others were arrested by the police.
